Permissions Svitgrid asks for
Svitgrid asks for each of these only when it first needs it, and explains why at the time. You can refuse any of them and the rest of the app keeps working.
| Permission | Why | If you say no |
|---|---|---|
| Notifications | Blackout warnings, faults, low battery | You get no alerts at all |
| Local network (iOS) | To find and read your inverter over Wi‑Fi | Your phone cannot collect data |
| Bluetooth | To set up a Svitgrid Gateway, or read a battery BMS | You cannot pair a Gateway from this phone |
| Location | To place your house for the solar forecast | You can type the address instead |
Turn notifications on. A scheduled blackout warning is the single most useful thing Svitgrid sends, and it is worthless if it cannot reach you.
Keeping the app up to date
Turn on automatic updates. Svitgrid changes quickly, and some fixes need both the app and the server. If your app is far too old to work correctly, Svitgrid blocks it on launch and asks you to update — that screen means your version is no longer supported, not that something is broken.
