An app for your Anenji inverter, without the SmartESS cloud

The SmartESS collector on your Anenji connects to Svitgrid on your home network by itself: to your phone or to Home Assistant. You do not need to enter an IP address. You see battery, solar, and home, get power alerts, and change charge settings from the app.

The app: from $2 a month.

Why Svitgrid if you already have SmartESS

SmartESS gets data through the manufacturer's cloud: the collector sends it to an EyBond server, and the app reads it from there. Svitgrid asks the collector to connect to your phone or Home Assistant instead, so the data comes from the inverter in your home, without a SmartESS account.

The collector talks to only one server at a time. While Svitgrid collects data, SmartESS receives none.

How Anenji connects: the collector reaches out by itself

Svitgrid looks for most inverters on the network by address. Anenji works the other way round: no scanning, no IP address, and no logger serial number. You see a list of the collectors that reached out, and you tick yours.

Phone and collector on the same Wi-Fi network

Mobile data is not enough. A guest network that isolates devices from each other does not work either.

Choose Anenji and wait for the collector

Choose to collect data with this phone, type Anenji in the model search, and stay in the app. The collector appears with its serial number.

Several Anenji inverters

The serial number is printed on the collector and sent by it, so you cannot mix up two inverters on one network.

What collects data from your Anenji

Home Assistant · 24/7

  1. Home Assistant on the same network as the collector
  2. The Svitgrid integration finds the collector by itself
  3. Data flows even when your phone is far from home
No device · integration through HACS

Phone · to get started

  1. The phone at home, on the collector's Wi-Fi
  2. The collector connects to the app
  3. Data flows while the app is open

How to set up the integration: Anenji in Home Assistant.

What you see and can do in the app

Battery, solar, home

Battery charge, voltage, and current, solar generation, household load, grid voltage, and inverter temperature.

Inverter settings

Charge current from solar and from the grid, charge voltages, thresholds for switching to the grid and back, protective voltage thresholds, equalization charge, output voltage and frequency, and the buzzer. You change them from the phone that collects the data.

Power alerts

Power went out, power came back, low battery. 24/7 when Home Assistant collects the data. The scheduled outage timetable for your group works with any collector.

History

With Home Assistant, the chart for any day records without holes. The phone sees the station only with the app open.

Questions from Anenji owners

Which app works with Anenji inverters?

Besides SmartESS from the manufacturer, Anenji inverters work with Svitgrid, an app for Android and iPhone. The SmartESS collector connects by itself to your phone or to Home Assistant on your network, so you do not need the inverter's IP address. The collector talks to only one server at a time, so SmartESS receives no data while Svitgrid collects it.

Do I need SmartESS?

No. Svitgrid does not need a SmartESS account. But the collector talks to only one server at a time, so while Svitgrid collects data, SmartESS receives none.

Does Anenji work with Home Assistant?

Yes. The Svitgrid integration for Home Assistant finds the SmartESS collector on the network by itself and reads the inverter 24/7, without reflashing the collector. If Anenji is already in your Home Assistant through ESPHome, the integration can take the existing sensors.

Which Anenji models are supported?

ANJ-4.2KW-24V-W-Pro, ANJ-5KW-48V, ANJ-6200-48V, and ANJ-11KW-48V-WIFI-P, all with a SmartESS collector. The Anenji 12KW at 120/240 V is a different platform, supported as an SRNE model.

Can I change Anenji settings from the app?

Yes, from the phone that collects the data: charge current and voltages, thresholds for switching between grid and battery, protective thresholds, equalization charge, output voltage and frequency, and the buzzer. When Home Assistant collects the data, you change the settings on the inverter itself.

The collector does not appear in the app. What now?

Almost always the phone and the collector are on different networks. Check that the phone is on your home Wi-Fi, not on mobile data or a guest network, and that the collector's indicator is lit. Stay in the app: the collector needs several attempts.
