Anenji in Home Assistant, without reflashing the collector
A common way to bring Anenji into Home Assistant is ESPHome: you replace the SmartESS collector with a homemade board. The Svitgrid integration does without that. It asks your collector to connect to Home Assistant on your home network and reads the inverter 24/7, and the Svitgrid app shows the station from anywhere.
How it works
The collector connects by itself
Home Assistant sends the collector a short command on your home network, and the collector connects to it on port 8899. You do not need the collector's IP address.
Several inverters on one network
One integration serves all collectors on the network and tells them apart by serial number.
SmartESS goes quiet for that time
The collector holds only one connection. While Home Assistant holds it, SmartESS receives no data.
What Home Assistant needs
The collector opens the connection to Home Assistant by itself, so Home Assistant must be reachable on the local network on port 8899.
HA OS, Supervised, or Core
These work right away, with nothing to configure.
Docker container
With host networking (--network=host) it works right away. In a container with bridge networking, publish port 8899 and enter the host address in the setup form. On Docker Desktop for Mac and Windows, only this option is possible.
The same network as the collector
If the collector is on another VLAN and the broadcast request does not reach it, enter the collector address in the setup form.
Anenji already in your Home Assistant through ESPHome?
Then the Svitgrid integration can take the sensors already in your Home Assistant. The mappings for Anenji ship with the integration; if your sensor names differ, you can match them in the integration options.
What you get
History without gaps
Home Assistant runs 24/7, so the chart for any day has no holes, even when your phone is far from home.
Power alerts
Power went out, power came back, low battery. They reach your phone wherever you are.
Your automations stay
The Anenji sensors in Home Assistant stay where they are. Svitgrid adds the app, history, and alerts on top of them.
The app changes inverter settings (charging, protective thresholds) only when the phone collects the data, not Home Assistant.
Questions
Do I need to reflash or replace the SmartESS collector?
No. The integration works with the stock collector: it only asks it to connect to Home Assistant instead of the manufacturer's cloud.
Will SmartESS keep working?
Not while Home Assistant holds the collector: the collector talks to only one server at a time.
Home Assistant does not find the collector. Why?
Most often the collector cannot reach Home Assistant: it runs in a bridge-network container without published port 8899, or the collector is on another VLAN. Also check that the inverter is on: a collector that is off looks the same.
Your Anenji in Home Assistant and in the app
Install the Svitgrid integration through HACS, add it to Home Assistant, and download the app.
