Axioma Energy ISGRID 15000 · Connecting the first stations

Your Axioma ISGRID in the app, over an RS-232 cable

The ED-1.1 gateway with an RS-232 board plugs into the inverter's "RS 232" port and reads it directly: solar, battery, grid and household load on each of the three phases. From the app you can change priorities, charging and battery voltages, and the calendar and rules do it for you.

We are connecting the first Axioma stations now. The app: from $2 a month.

Connecting the first stations

We built ISGRID 15000 support from the protocol documentation of this inverter family and tested it on a bench rig that imitates the inverter. We are connecting the first real stations now. If you own an Axioma ISGRID, write to us on Telegram: we will help with the cable and stay with you until your station shows up in the app.

How to connect: three wires to the "RS 232" port

The inverter has two DB9 sockets. Use the one labelled "RS 232"; the socket below it is for running inverters in parallel, and the gateway never connects to it. The cable has three wires only:

ED-1.1, RJ-45 socketSignalInverter, DB9 "RS 232"
2Gateway transmits (TX)3
1Gateway receives (RX)2
3Ground5

Leave every other pin unconnected at both ends. Pins 4 and 5 of the ED-1.1 socket carry its power supply, and some inverters hold a voltage on the spare pins of their port.

If the gateway does not find the inverter, swap the wires on pins 2 and 3 of the DB9 connector: that does no harm. The gateway's socket pinout is on the RJ-45 page.

What Svitgrid reads

Solar

Power, voltage and current of each of the two panel inputs separately.

Battery

State of charge in percent, voltage, current, and charge and discharge power.

Grid, per phase

Voltage and power from or to the grid on each phase, and the frequency.

Home, per phase

Household load on each of the three phases and in total.

Mode and temperature

The mode the inverter is running in, and its temperature.

What you can control

Priorities

What powers the house first, whether solar charges the battery, and whether the battery powers the house with and without solar.

Feeding the grid

Allow or block feeding the grid, including from the battery, and cap its power.

Battery charging

Charging from the grid, the maximum charge and discharge currents, and the charge voltages.

Battery voltages

The voltage at which the inverter cuts the battery off and the one at which it brings it back, with and without the grid.

Calendar

Charge the battery from the grid at the hours you choose, run on the battery, hold the charge, or sell to the grid. When the event ends, the inverter goes back to your settings.

Rules

Actions on conditions: battery charge, solar, load, whether the grid is up. For example, change the battery voltages while a rule holds, then restore yours.

Changes apply one at a time

The inverter takes one setting change about once a minute, so change settings one at a time. A calendar event that changes several settings takes a few minutes to apply.

The app shows the grid-charge windows set on the inverter itself, but does not change them.

Questions from Axioma owners

Which app works with Axioma Energy inverters?

Svitgrid, an app for Android and iPhone. It reads the ISGRID 15000 through the ED-1.1 gateway with an RS-232 board, cabled to the inverter's "RS 232" port, and changes its settings. We are connecting the first stations now.

Can I control the Axioma from the app?

Yes: priorities, feeding the grid, battery charging and voltages, plus the calendar and rules. The inverter takes changes one at a time, about once a minute.

Will an ED-1 without a cable, or an ED-1.1 with RS-485, work?

No. The ISGRID 15000 gives its data over an RS-232 port, so it needs the ED-1.1 with an RS-232 board.

Which socket do I connect to?

The DB9 socket labelled "RS 232". The socket below it is for running inverters in parallel.

The app does not find the inverter on the cable. What now?

Most often transmit and receive are swapped. Swap the wires on pins 2 and 3 of the DB9 connector, check the ground on pin 5, and search again.

Why does a setting change not apply at once?

The inverter takes one change about once a minute, and the gateway reads the settings back after each one to make sure it took. So several changes go one after another.
