Your Edecoa inverter in the app, over a cable, no cloud

The ED-1.1 gateway connects to the inverter's COM port and reads it directly. You see battery charge, household load, solar generation, and grid voltage from anywhere, and history records 24/7.

The app: from $2 a month.

Why a cable and not Wi-Fi

Edecoa does not give data to your home network the way Deye loggers do. So the ED-1.1 takes the data directly from the inverter's COM port over an RS-232 cable. The inverter answers in the PI30 protocol, the same one the Voltronic family uses. You need neither the manufacturer's cloud nor an extra Wi-Fi module for this.

How to connect

The COM port on an Edecoa looks like an RJ-45 socket. Wire the cable by signal, one pin at a time. A straight network patch cable does not work: inverter pin 4 carries +12 V.

Inverter pin 1 → gateway pin 1

This is the inverter's data output (TX). The gateway listens on it.

Inverter pin 2 → gateway pin 2

This is the inverter's data input (RX). The gateway talks on it.

Inverter pin 8 → gateway pin 6

Ground. RS-232 stays silent without it. Do not connect inverter pin 4 (+12 V) to anything. The full diagram is on the RJ-45 pinout page.

What you see in the app

Battery

Voltage, charge percentage, whether it is charging or discharging and at what power, and how much time is left until it runs down.

Home and solar

How much the house uses now and how much the panels produce.

Grid

Grid voltage and the mode the inverter runs in: from the grid or from the battery.

History without gaps

The gateway records data 24/7, so the chart for any day has no holes.

Questions from Edecoa owners

Which app works with Edecoa inverters?

Svitgrid, an app for Android and iPhone, reads Edecoa without the manufacturer's app. It needs the ED-1.1 gateway with an RS-232 board, connected by cable to the inverter's COM port. Svitgrid only reads Edecoa: you keep setting modes and grid charging on the inverter itself.

Can I control an Edecoa from the app?

Not yet. Svitgrid reads Edecoa but does not change its settings: you keep setting modes and grid charging on the inverter itself.

Does an ordinary ED-1 work without a cable?

No. The ED-1 reads the inverter through a Wi-Fi logger on your network, and Edecoa does not give data that way. You need the ED-1.1 with an RS-232 board.

Does an ED-1.1 with RS-485 work?

No. The COM port on an Edecoa uses RS-232, which has different signal levels. Svitgrid does not use the BMS port on the inverter.

The app says "Nothing answered on the RS-232 cable". What now?

Most often pins 1 and 2 are swapped. Check that inverter pin 1 goes to gateway pin 1, inverter pin 2 goes to gateway pin 2, and the ground is connected. Then tap search again.

Do I need an installer?

No, if you have a ready cable. The gateway runs from a USB charger, and setup takes a few minutes in the app.
